DJ Toxxyk’s Appeal Highlights: Parents with Stroke, Young Child, and Business Responsibilities

He requested to be released and tried without being detained, citing that he has parents suffering from a stroke in Belgium, a young child who needs his care, and a business that requires his attention.

DJ Toxxyk spoke in a very calm voice, to the extent that the bench asked him more than three times to speak louder so that the prosecution could clearly understand his explanation and the media could accurately report his defense.

During his address, DJ Toxxyk apologized to the judges.

After his apology, the presiding judge summarized part of what DJ Toxxyk had stated and then asked his lawyers to present his defense.

Indeed, DJ Toxxyk’s lawyer confirmed that his client admitted to committing involuntary manslaughter. However, he denied that DJ Toxxyk had ever fled; he explained that his travel to Karongi was motivated entirely by fear.

The lawyer added that DJ Toxxyk should be forgiven for these crimes because he had suffered from trauma. The defense reminded the court that the law allows for fines in such cases, so detention should not continue.

Regarding the charge of drug use or involvement in drug networks, the lawyer argued that DJ Toxxyk was denied the right to undergo standardized drug testing.

He further stated that although drugs were seized from DJ Toxxyk’s home, no laboratory analysis was conducted, so he considers the search to have been conducted without proper legal authority.

Concerning the allegations of drug use, DJ Toxxyk requested three separate times to undergo drug testing, but the prosecution refused.

The trial is ongoing.
