Rwandan Recording labels stepping backward! Way forward to addres the challenges

Recording labels hardly do they consistently progress in Rwanda’s music industry. Apparently, recording labels are supposed to help musicians throughout their musical journey within the period that contracts between the CEO and the artists. But it seems upside down when it comes to our roots…Rwandan music.

In our previous articles, we recently informed you about the resignations that happened in The Mane Music Label that came after some other musical tragic stories in several different labels. They all starting aimed at enhancing Rwandan music but achieving it is another story hard to tell. They usually start strong and financially stable but day to day they do step backward instead of forwarding as facts reveal on thefacts. rw in their daily entertainment stories.

Been wondering why do Rwandan labels step backward? Thefacts. rw got you covered.

Recording Labels require a huge and serious investment. Starting a recording label is not that easy as some artists wake up and announce that he has a recording label in which he has signed his musician friend. Honestly NO. All these are spoken under the “shortage of investment” that is seen in the Rwandan music game, whilst there is no investment, a serious one, it’s hard to own the serious recording labels.

Through the shortage of serious investment, record labels don’t fulfill their duties properly as they are supposed to: -Produce both audio and video for the signed artist

                                   -Promote the songs produced

                                   - Deal the markets of advertising

                                   -Deal promotions like premiering songs

                                   -Etc

As long as money in an investment isn’t that enough satisfying, recording labels will always fail to achieve their goals in the music career. Once it is like this, the so-called CEOs will be fighting to gain more than they invest and seem like vein sucking the artists whom they are managing.

Some CEOs want to be in the spotlight more than their signed artists. Instead of investing in artist’s music, some recording label owners want to uplift their names to the same point and this brings inconvenience between the staff and artists. Not a few times that we hear the departs of artists from the labels because of financial issues, I know you heard it too.

Almost every year we hear a new label and within that year we witness its end. That’s the problem anyway. And it’s all because of the above causes. Unless something changes in a matter of investment, I assure you nothing about the development in absence of strong recording labels.

Once all these get fixed, no wonder Rwandan music will get more further than we can fathom because talent is very obvious in Rwandan artists.
