Things Fall Apart! Musicians got used to the pandemic after the hardship of fixing a plate on the table

However, music may help in any situation in life whether happy, sad, fearful, or depressed. So, people didn’t give up on the music though they thought of the pandemic a couple of minutes due to the pandemic scary.

Musicians were the first to sensitize citizens about the pandemic by aiding the government in its uprooting through the verses of their songs…Meanwhile, musicians were no longer selling their music like before, things were never the same, as most of us, they were also highly affected by the pandemic in a negative way. That’s when we started finding some artists claiming the hunger and no one is there to judge because it’s a life of course.

Congregations and any other kind of meeting of people were prohibited, you easily understand how music was the dream of which artists could not dream at the time, DJs were on the train too.

We all know that musicians fix the hot plate because they have sold their music either through their social media platforms or live performance with their lovely fans and unfortunately in Rwanda, social media platforms are not that used to the extent it can make a musician survive in such critical condition of Covid 19 pandemic.

Since live performance was prohibited, Rwandan musicians had no other choice, plus, Rwandan citizens as the high number of their fans had o income too, whatever income, it could be invested in storing food not buying music. It’s a critical condition for the artists for sure, though it’s still there, I mean, Covid 19 pandemic, but at this time we can say ‘At least people try to stream the music’

Since men learned how to shoot without missing, birds learned to fly without perching’ Chinua Achebe once wrote in his Things Fall Apart. Rwandan artists and musicians generally got used to the pandemic and seek for an alternative in order to continually survive leaning on their music.

Although it was like this critical, musicians started to perform online using their YouTube channels and earn from those streaming from their fans which was at least the way of re-getting the hope that they may still survive because of their music. We didn’t forget that Silent Disco as one of the trending DJs shows that were growing up among Rwandan music lovers, stopped too, rather DJs chose to deal Tv and radio shows so that they may continue their work of mixing a variety of music genres.

However, musicians kept on grinding that today some of them are earning a lot of money as the pandemic preventive measures were eased slowly, they started signing big contracts though the pandemic is still around. By this point, we can mention Bruce Melody who recently signed a heavy contract of Rwf150 million to advertise Arena, Riderman and Platini signed the contract of advertising Canal+ too.

Without forgetting Super manager who signed an Rwf200 million advertising Esperanza group Ltd and Shaddyboo as one of the entertainers in Rwanda signed a big contract of adverts too, even the Covid-19 pandemic is still there.
