Tiwa Savage Launches Major Music Foundation with Berklee to Train African Talent

The Tiwa Savage Music Foundation was unveiled this week with the backing of Berklee College of Music, one of the world’s leading music institutions. The initiative will bring Berklee faculty to Lagos, Nigeria, for a fully funded four‑day intensive programme designed to train 100 emerging African artists, producers, songwriters, and music‑business professionals.

Savage said the foundation addresses a critical gap in structured learning opportunities for African music creators, noting that while genres like Afrobeats have exploded globally, many talented artists lack access to advanced training and industry knowledge. Through formal mentorship and skill development, the project aims to strengthen the continent’s creative ecosystem.

Industry analysts say the partnership with Berklee, known for its elite music programmes,  could be transformative, helping bridge the divide between raw talent and the professional skills needed to build sustainable careers in music. The initiative also highlights growing efforts by African stars to reinvest in homegrown talent and industry infrastructure.

Tiwa Savage’s foundation launch marks a major development in African music entertainment, offering structured education and global collaboration that could shape the continent’s creative future and empower thousands of emerging musicians across genres.
