A Whirlwind of European Super League fizzles out
European Super League Plans are now in tatters following the disband of English big six clubs to the proposed plan of forming a new era of football.
The Tuesday night saw English big six clubs untied on the proposed plan of forming an absolute monarch of football (ESL), that was later on joined by Ac Millan and Atletico Madrid as Juventus Chairman Andrea Agneliannounced.
The idea of the European Super League begun in 1990 but FIFA and other football Associations fell on deaf ears. It had to consists of 20 teams from different leagues that could be grouped according to the founders.
The Chairman of the Super League, Real Madrid Florentino Perez argues that the new competition will save football. “We are doing this to save football at a critical moment.” Says Perez. “Young people are no longer interested in football. Why not? Because there are a lot of poor quality games and they are not interested, they have other platforms on which to distract themselves” Perez reiterates.
Florentino Perez believes Super League could boost the football fantasy and jumps over the financial benchmark of other non-Super League teams.
FIFA President, Gianni Infantino and other football confederations reprobated the idea as they impose punishments and threatens the Super League attendants. Insisting on playing European Super League could see players banned for playing in their national teams and the titles of the teams and victories nullified.
In a furious response to Uefa President, Aleksander Ceferin, he said “European Super League is a disgraceful, self-serving proposal.” Which also added down fuel to fire on the breakdown.
No doubt, breaking away from European football could see two football empires but with an eternal discretion between the two.
Political interventions and fans marching inroads in loud chants and boards saying
“Stop Super League, we want no Super League R.I.P Superleague, Cancel Super League”, and some impeded the normal movements seemed to have spoiled the whirlwind of the European Super League. It created a mind of halting to the Super League and declare a withdrawal.
The withdrawal coincided with the relinquishment of Ed Woodward as Man Utd Executive Vice-chairman and that of Juventus Andrea Agnelli.
